Scams to Watch Out For
Spoofing Calls: Scammers can make it appear that they’re calling from our official number. Do not share sensitive information unless you initiated the call. Hang up and call us back at our official number if something feels off.
Phishing Emails & Text Messages: These messages may look legitimate but are designed to trick you into clicking harmful links or providing personal data. Watch for poor grammar, unfamiliar email addresses, or urgent-sounding requests. Don’t click links or download attachments unless you’re certain of the sender.
Fake Websites or Mobile Apps: Only access through our verified digital channels. Use our official website. Avoid clicking on search engine ads or unfamiliar links to log in.
How to Protect Yourself
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your accounts. Regularly review your account activity and report anything unusual. Never share your login credentials – even if someone claims to be from Sound Federal. Save our official contact information so you can verify any communication.
Extra Security for Certain Services
For your protection, certain features – such as Zelle – may require additional security verification before they can be assessed or used. This is one more way we help protect your funds and identity from unauthorized use.

Public Service Announcement – Cash Apps Fraud

As you probably know, exposure to and loss from fraud is on the rise, especially in the financial services sector for obvious reasons. In fact, there has been a significant increase in this fraudulent activity recently, particularly with online payments through online third-party payment apps. During the holidays, it is even more important to protect yourself from this risk… a risk that may not be covered when you use one of these online third-party payment app providers.
Typically, if fraud were to occur when you use your credit or debit card, you may be protected from the loss. However, if fraud occurs when using a third-party payment app… an app you’ve shared your personal information with for purchases or to pay others… it now becomes your responsibility to work with that payment company to try and recover your lost funds. This has proven extremely difficult and frustrating for our Members to do.
So why take the chance of going it alone? Avoid the risk of losing your hard-earned money to fraud when using a third-party payment app provider and make a Sound choice by using any of our trusted, safe, and convenient payment alternatives.
